Program Description:
BROADREACH: Fiji Shark Behavior & Conservation
Survey the biology, behavior, and ecological and social importance of these formidable creatures up-close and personal in their natural habitat. Observe and study sharks first-hand on dives in a controlled underwater environment at the renowned Shark Reef Marine Reserve (SRMR). Conduct research projects on their behavior, analyze conservation efforts and contribute your own ideas, as many species are in danger of extinction and need protection. Discover the similarities and differences among different shark species in lessons, then dive down and witness these different sharks in action. There is even time for a cultural visit in a Fijian village, where stories of an ancient protective Shark God are shared. Return from this trip having collected vital data and engaged in meaningful cultural exchanges.
