YOUR ASA EXPERIENCE

You will receive individualized support from ASA’s advisors and staff throughout your program application process, while you are abroad, and when you return.

Before you depart we will work with you and the staff at your home institution to help you prepare for your time abroad. We are happy to speak with you to discuss ways you can maximize your experience in your host country. You will also receive a detailed pre-departure orientation guide which will help you know what to pack, what to expect when you arrive, and how to stay safe while abroad.

Once you arrive in Barcelona you will participate in our onsite orientation with the other ASA students in your group. ASA’s site director will introduce you to your host city and culture through orientation and multiple events during the program. Our intentionally small group sizes allow ASA’s students to get to know one another and are an aspect of our programs for which our alumni consistently express their appreciation. You will have opportunities to meet other students and lots of new people through your classes, social events and optional language partners.

ASA programs include excursions, volunteer opportunities, housing, meals, academic credits, transcripts, airport pick-up on arrival, medical insurance and more!

Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) is a public university founded in 1990. It is a large school with a student body of about 11,000. A large number of these students come from international backgrounds. The UPF is renowned for its high academic standard.

ASA students studying at the UPF will take classes at the UPF Ciutadella campus, located near the Olympic Village and Ciutadella Park – very close to the beach. ASA program housing is conveniently located to the university. It takes most students only 15-25 minutes to get to school by subway.

You can combine courses from the Interdisciplinary Studies Program with courses from the International Business program. If you plan to do this, please apply through the International Business Semester Program listing since the dates are slightly longer for that program.

"My time spent abroad was absolutely amazing, and I give
a lot of credit to ASA for making it the best it could be."

- Kara McCrudden, ASA Alumni
