Academic Studies Abroad Summer Internship in Sevilla
(Outgoing Program)
You will receive individualized support from ASA’s advisors and staff throughout your program application process, while you are abroad, and when you return.
Before you depart we will work with you and the staff at your home institution to help you prepare for your time abroad by giving you personal access to our Student Success program, which will help you maximize your experience in your host country. You will also receive a detailed pre-departure orientation guide which will help you know what to pack, what to expect when you arrive, and how to stay safe while abroad.
Once you arrive in Sevilla you will participate in our onsite orientation with the other ASA students in your group. ASA’s site director will introduce you to your host city and culture through orientation and multiple events during the program. Our intentionally small group sizes allow ASA’s students to get to know one another and are an aspect of our programs for which our alumni consistently express their appreciation. You will have opportunities to meet other students and lots of new people through your classes, social events and optional language partners.
ASA programs include excursions, volunteer opportunities, housing, meals, academic credits, transcripts, mobile phones, airport pick-up on arrival, medical insurance and more! Contact ASA or your advisor to learn about ASA’s Price Guarantee for all of our programs.
"ASA was very involved in the entire study abroad process. They give you more than the typical study abroad package. ASA is always available to answer questions and help you through the entire study abroad process."
- Ashley Grewe, University of Minnesota, Duluth
COURSES
This program will allow you to gain hands-on experience, develop a framework for cultural understanding, and learn how to articulate that knowledge in a way that will appeal to future employers.
This program also includes 20 hours of intensive Spanish language lessons (not for credit), résumé advising, Myers-Briggs training, cultural training, and coaching from ASA’s Internship Coordinator in Sevilla.
All internships are unpaid and consist of 80 work hours. Your internship may be credit-bearing for an additional fee, depending on your internship’s subject area. Please continue reading below for full details.
A basic knowledge of Spanish is helpful, but you need not know any Spanish to apply for an internship. However, the more Spanish you know, the greater the variety of opportunities that will be available to you.
No additional visa is necessary in order to do an internship.
"My time spent abroad was absolutely amazing, and I give
a lot of credit to ASA for making it the best it could be."
